Welcome:
The Bright Sparks Bilingual PlaySchool
based in Melbourne, Australia, brings
the sounds and colours of the World to
your Toddler or PreSchooler through a
Second Language, while their ability to
become Bilingual is at its peak.

 Our Teaching Philosophy:
Conducted at our fully-equipped teaching facility, and utilising a complete
range of indoor and outdoor play equipment and stimulation, our program
applies the principles of 'Emergent Learning' to build language skills that
simply can't be found in textbooks.

The hallmark of our program is its high quality and professionalism.
The structure and content of our program is of the highest quality,
having been developed in collaboration with RMIT University's Early
Childhood Education Department.  The emphasis is on children learning
through having fun, and providing them with every possible opportunity
to develop their bilingual skills.

Our Educators are also well-trained, dedicated and highly-professional.
Due to our small class sizes, each child also has plentiful opportunity to
receive individualised attention .

Language Focus:
Our language focus is Mandarin Chinese.  However, no previous
experience with the language is required.  In fact, our curriculum
is specifically designed for children that have little or no
background in the language.

Mandarin Chinese is a language particularly well-suited for young children
to learn, as it relies on four distinct tonal inflections.  Young children
with their inherent sense of musicality, are able to recognise and reproduce
these tonal inflections much easier than older children or adults.

The Federal Government's commitment to Asian languages has extended to
committing funding of an unprecedented $62.4 million over 2008/09 to
2010/11 to the introduction of Asian languages in Australia's education system.

A little-known fact is that Mandarin Chinese is actually the most spoken
language in the World.  Many enlightened parents recognise that introducing
Mandarin Chinese to their children early in life will provide them with the
strong foundation for a major life skill and competitive advantage in their
future careers.

The importance of learning a second language early in life is supported by
the Australian Chamber of Commerce, which recently introduced a
Blueprint for Education in Australia, calling on 'all Australian governments
to work towards ensuring children are involved in compulsory language
lessons at school from the age of seven or earlier.'
(Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, "Skills for a Nation: a Blueprint for Improving Education and Training" p27)

Other Benefits of Learning a Second Language in Early Childhood:
Learning languages in Early Childhood is actually very easy for children.
In fact, recent research has demonstrated that children under the age of
two years, have the astounding capability to learn up to nine languages.

children's imagination, creativity and communication abilities, and arms them with
the mental skills essential for success in higher learning, including:
  • Problem Solving
